Hi all,

First post here, pls be gentle :)

We're in the process of building cloud, offering IaaS. We're dealing with
several vendors with various OS we'll offer.
I'm in charge of the non-Windows operating systems. We'd like to setup
update servers just like Red Hat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) for RHEL;
this part is already taken care of. I'm curious on what's the equivalent of
RHUI in SuSe world.

On how I understood RHUI - a server will act as a Red Hat Update Appliance
(RHUA) which will connect to RHN and pull updates. Aside from RHUA, there
will also be Content Delivery Servers (CDS) who is connected to RHUA where
clients will pull updates.

Simple diagram:
RHN <---> RHUA <---> CDS <---> Clients

I've searched online and found SuSe Manager, is this the closest product we
can use to get almost the same setup with RHUI?

Appreciate your inputs.

If this is not the correct place to ask and you know where is the correct
one, would really appreciate if you could direct me to it.

Thanks!

Jef

We have various products to stand inbetween, listed by increasing
sophistication:

SMT - Subscription Management Tool

Is an update proxy that mirrors the selected channels as-is
and also handles proxying subscriptions.

SLMS - SUSE Lifecycle Management Server

Mostly as SMT, but also allows picking and selecting patches
and feeding in other channels.

and as you noted, SUSE Manager, which is a more push model large scale
management of servers.
